About this opportunity

Beamline for Schools (BL4S) 2026 is a physics competition for high school students from all around the world organized by CERN (Switzerland), DESY (Germany), and ELSA at University of Bonn (Germany). Teams of high school students are invited to propose an experiment they want to perform at the beamline of a particle accelerator. The winning teams win a trip to one of these laboratories to perform their experiments at a fully equipped beamline! In 2025, 508 proposals were received from 3,653 students in 72 countries. Five winning teams will be selected – two each at CERN and DESY, and one at ELSA. Additional prizes for shortlisted teams and best videos/outreach proposals. DEADLINE: March 13, 2026 at 23:59 CEST.
