Interledger on Campus is a global mini-grant program designed to empower student-led university clubs to explore the future of digital payments and financial inclusion. The program provides funding for projects that utilize the Interledger Protocol (ILP) to address challenges in open payments, interoperability, and expanding financial access to underserved communities. The initiative encourages a “learn by doing” approach, supporting activities such as campus hackathons, technical workshops, peer-to-peer learning sessions, and the development of open-source payment tools.
The grant is specifically designed to be accessible to student organizations, offering up to $5,000 USD to cover project costs, including equipment, marketing, and event logistics. Beyond the funding, the Interledger Foundation provides a suite of application resources and a technical factsheet to help students successfully navigate the world of open payments. Projects are expected to be short-term and high-impact, running for no more than three months. This is an excellent opportunity for student leaders to build technical expertise in a rapidly growing field while contributing to a more equitable global financial system.
Target Audience: Student-led university clubs and organizations at accredited higher education institutions worldwide. Applicants must have a faculty advisor or institutional support for fund management and project oversight.
Geographic Eligibility: Global. Applications are welcomed from any accredited university or college.
Tangible Benefits: Up to $5,000 USD in grant funding, access to technical resources and the Interledger community, and the opportunity to lead a high-profile project on campus.
Application Deadline: July 31, 2026 (Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis).
Program Timeline: Projects must be completed within 3 months of funding and no later than December 31, 2026.
