UNIDIR Graduate Professional (Space Security) - Flow Card Image

This fellowship is designed to support the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) Space Security Programme. Fellows engage in high-level research, assist in the organization of international conferences, and contribute to the development of policy recommendations aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability and security of outer space activities.

The role is ideal for those looking to bridge the gap between technical space science and international policy. You will be tasked with monitoring global space security trends, drafting briefing papers for UN member states, and supporting the “Space Security Conference” series. This position provides a rare “insider” view of how multilateral disarmament treaties are negotiated and maintained within the UN system.

Applicants should have a strong interest in the intersection of technology and international security. The program emphasizes the development of professional skills in a diplomatic environment, offering direct exposure to the work of the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) and other key international stakeholders in Geneva.

Target Audience: Recent graduates (within two years of graduation) or students currently enrolled in a graduate-level program (Master’s or PhD) in international relations, law, science, or a related field.

Geographic Eligibility: Global (Remote or Geneva-based, depending on current UN guidelines).

Tangible Benefits: Monthly stipend (standard UN GP rate), professional networking within the UN system, and hands-on experience in space security policy and international diplomacy.

Application Deadline: May 28, 2026
