The Centre for AI, Trust and Governance (CAITG) at the University of Sydney is hosting an immersive four-day AI Winter School offering hands-on AI training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and discussion of responsible AI practice. The program covers Python-based LLM experimentation, agentic systems, AI for literature review and grant writing, text classification, and agent-based modelling.

Target Audience: Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and early career researchers across all disciplines — not limited to computer science. The program is designed for researchers who want to integrate AI tools into their existing research workflows regardless of their field.

Geographic Eligibility: Open to all nationalities, but the program is in-person only at the University of Sydney Camperdown Campus. Travel and accommodation are the participant’s responsibility.

Tangible Benefits: Intensive hands-on training in state-of-the-art AI tools (Python, LLMs, RAG, AI agents), practical writing sessions for grants and manuscripts, and a competitive cohort of only 25 participants ensuring high-quality interaction with instructors.

Program Structure:

• Day 1: AI for Research — common uses, limitations, ethical questions
• Day 2: Technical Foundations — Python, LLMs, and AI Agents
• Day 3: AI for Literature Review, Research Writing, and Grant Applications
• Day 4: AI for Text Classification and Agent-Based Modelling

Cost: AUD $400 per person (including GST), payable upon offer of placement.
